Mark Mortimer - Bass | The Navigator

ORIGIN: Planet Earth – specifically the slightly suspicious musical sector of the United Kingdom

Mark Mortimer has been navigating the lower frequencies of the musical universe for considerably longer than most people would recommend.

A member of ‘DC Fontana’ and formerly of celebrated 60s’ freakbeat group ‘The Sorrows’, Mark’s musical trajectory has travelled from the 1960s beat and freakbeat universe through the 1980s chart scene and well into the modern live event galaxy.

He was a member of ‘The Dream Factory’, who reached the UK charts in 1985 with Wine and Roses, and has performed live with Philadephia legends, ‘The Trammps’.

He also played live with chart-topping dance act ‘KWS’, whose Please Don’t Go enjoyed a five week stay at number 1 in the UK.

Mark even appeared in the video for The Trammps’ Hold Back The Night, alongside KWS.

He has released two albums and three singles in the past decade with ‘DC Fontana’ before forming ‘The Know Escape’ (the Pod’s mothership!) who recently released the critically-acclaimed album Running through Chelsea with legendary British Psychedelic singer-songwriter, Peter Daltrey.

These days, Mark provides ‘Escape Pod’ with bass, questionable navigational advice and the ability to locate the groove when the rest of the crew has temporarily misplaced it.

CREW FUNCTION: Keeping the ship moving in the right direction.
